About Dr. Angelica Gabriela Ortiz, M.D.

Dr. Ortiz graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class and subsequently completed her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, magna cum laude, with minors in Business Administration and Chemistry from the University of Miami, where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she received the prestigious Research to Prevent Blindness Medical Student Fellowship in ocular oncology. Dr. Ortiz completed her internal medicine internship at the University of Miami–Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at Stanford University, where she served as Chief Resident. She then pursued a fellowship in cornea at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Ortiz has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national and international conference presentations. She has also participated in multiple community and global outreach programs, providing ophthalmic care to underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad, including Honduras.

Born in Mexico, Dr. Ortiz moved to the United States at the age of five and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and Central Florida before returning to Miami for college and medical school. She and her husband, Ben, have two young children and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that South Florida offers.
